This workpackage includes supporting the meetings of the INTERNATIONAL SCIENTIFIC COUNCIL (ISC) of UNIPRESS. The ISC will include about 8 scientists of acknowledged international authority in the research directions covered by the present proposal. The ISC will provide advice about the directions of UNIPRESS activity in its international dimension, and an independent assessment of new programs undertaken by UNIPRESS: scholarships, experts visits, research grants, and other. For efficient activity, the ISC will nominate the REFEREEING COMMITTEE (RC), including foreign scientists. The work of the REFEREEING COMMITTEE will also be supported by the present workpackage. The present program involves activities where access to funding will be granted based on a competition of applications: UNIPRESS SCHOLARSHIPS, VISITS OF EXPERTS, The role of the RC will be to set the competition rules, ensure the proper distribution of information about the programmes (in Poland and abroad), evaluate the applications, report own activity to the International Scientific Council. The applications will be analysed taking into account the scientific quality, needs from the point of view of UNIPRESS research plans, and feasibility. The equal opportunity rule will be strictly applied and its application controlled by the ISC. Women scientists will be encouraged to take advantage of the program (scholarships, grants). Priority will be given to applications in fields related to one of the workpackages. The first meeting of the International Scientific Councill is planned for 22 of June 2001 Contact person: Prof. Sylvester Porowski, Director of the High Pressure Research Centre: sylvek@unipress.waw.pl |
