Institute of High Pressure Physics

With deep sorrow we learned of the passing of Professor Jan Szmidt—an outstanding electronics scholar and academic teacher, Rector of Warsaw University of Technology (2012–2020) and Chair of the Conference of Rectors of Academic Schools in Poland (2016–2020; Honorary Chair since 2020).

He previously served as Vice-Dean for Development (2002–2005) and Dean (2008–2012) at the Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology.

Professor Szmidt was a valued friend of the Institute of High Pressure Physics PAS (UNIPRESS), consistently encouraging both the development of advanced technologies and their commercialization.
