The Foundation for Polish Science has concluded the fourth competition in the HOMING and POWROTY/REINTEGRATION programmes. Dr Marta Sawicka from our Institute is on the winners list of POWROTY/REINTEGRATION 4/2017 programme.

In her Project Development of high quality InAlN - the road to strain-free nitride lasers, dr Sawicka will investigate the microscopic growth mechanism of InAlN in order to find the optimum growth conditions for the composition 83% Al, 17%In, lattice-matched to GaN. High quality InAlN grown by plasma-assisted molecular beam epitaxy (PAMBE) will be essential for the improvement of currently developed edge emitting laser diodes as well as fabrication of vertical surface emitting lasers (VCSELs), not available on the market yet.

The Project will be carried out in collaboration with prof. E. Calleja group from Universidad de Madrid and Prof. M. Załuska-Kotur group from Institute of Physics PAS. The obtained results will be implemented and tested in laser diodes structures fabricated in collaboration with TopGaN company.
