PostDoc job offer in NL10
Laboratory NL 10, with the consent of the Director of the IWC PAN, announces a competition for the position of PostDoc as part of the NCN OPUS 45 project ref. 2022/45/B/ST5/04005 : Pressurized Glassy Materials for Innovative Energy Storage and Conversion.
The project links the physics of glasses and amorphous materials with materials engineering. It is the result of the discovery, made with the significant participation of IHPP PAS, that below the glass temperature Tg under high pressure there is a 'magic region' with a width of 50 - 100 K where compressimg can cause the appearance of even exotic physical properties, and they are retained after decompressing down to normal conditions. Obviously, this unusual property raises many 'fundamental' questions and is an opportunity for innovative applications. In this project, we focus especially on batteries for storing electric energy with glass electrodes. As we showed in our preliminary work in 2019, a properly 'designed' path of temperature and pressure changes can create nanocrystallites in the glass matrix, which are a source of high electrical conductivity, The mentioned 'annennaling' increases it further by 2 decades. It yields an excellent material for 'glass' battery electrodes, the surface of which practically does not change during the time of usage. This is a chance for 'eternal batteries', Nite that that just relatively fast detoriation of of storing ability during charging and discharging cycles is a great problem of existing solutions.
The candidate will work in the Innovation Park in Celestynów for a period of 12 - 24 months. The application deadline is 31.11.2023. Detailed competition conditions, including the candidate's expectations and qualifications, are provided in the attached document.
The project is implemented by the consortium of IHPP PAS (Lab NL10) and the Warsaw University of Technology, Faculty. Physics).
