The Theory Group

A Theory Group in Crystallization Laboratory (NL-3) is occupied primarily with the physics of condensed matter systems: solids and liquids, with special emphasis on numerical simulations of semiconductors, their properties and applications. The Group area of interest includes also development of the methods, both numerical and analytical and their application to obtain new data of importance to the general research program of the Institute. The research program of the Institute is concentrated on several areas and accordingly Theory Group’s interests are also concentrated on these subjects, most notably the development of nitride based electronic and optoelectronic devices and the applications of pressure in the creation of new materials, structures and devices. The tradition of the theoretical investigation in Crystallization Laboratory encompasses more than 30 years of research, therefore during these years the research program of the Institute evolved and similarly, the research interest of the Theory Group.

Specifically, the research in the Theory Group may be divided into the following categories:

  1. Semiconductors: properties, structures & devices

  2. Surfaces: properties & processes

  3. Thermodynamics

  4. Other

During all period of theory group activity, the following researchers were employed, as scientist and PhD students
