Szkoła doktorska

Warsaw PhD School in Natural and BioMedical Sciences

Warsaw PhD School in Natural and BioMedical Sciences [Warsaw-4-PhD] was established in 2019. The Institute of High Pressure Physics of the Polish Academy of Sciences (IHPP PAS) is one of its founding institutions. It provides doctoral training, conducts scientific research, and awards the PhD degree in the field of exact and natural sciences, in the discipline of physical sciences.

Education

The doctoral programme lasts four years and concludes with the submission of a doctoral dissertation. Completion requires obtaining the required number of ECTS credits. Doctoral candidates receive a doctoral scholarship throughout the entire period of training.

Research Areas

The Institute of High Pressure Physics PAS conducts research in semiconductor physics, soft matter physics, and applications of high pressure in physical research.

PhD Research Topics

  • Nitride semiconductors – optical and electrical properties of structures and devices; studies under high pressure conditions
  • Growth of bulk GaN and BN crystals and nitride epitaxy (MOVPE, MBE)
  • Semiconductor surface properties and modelling of layer and structure growth
  • Simulation methods: ab initio, CFD, drift-diffusion models, effective mass, AI
  • Terahertz (THz) physics and devices
  • Soft matter physics
  • Superconductors and high-pressure equipment
