Instytut Wysokich Ciśnień PAN z wyróżniającymi wynikami ewaluacji 2022-2025

We are delighted to announce that the Ministry of Science and Higher Education has published the results of Poland's 2022-2025 national research quality evaluation (22 July 2026).

The Institute of High Pressure Physics of the Polish Academy of Sciences (IHPP PAS) has been awarded the highest possible scientific category, A+, in Physical Sciences, and A in Materials Engineering.

These outstanding results reflect the excellence of the research carried out at the Institute by our scientists, engineers, and doctoral researchers. They recognize achievements spanning world-leading nitride semiconductor technologies, terahertz science, nanomaterials, superconductivity, and the development of unique high-pressure research facilities and instrumentation.

This success would not have been possible without the dedication, creativity, and hard work of our entire community. We warmly congratulate and thank all members of the Institute whose scientific publications, competitive research projects, technology transfer activities, and day-to-day commitment have contributed to this achievement. We also extend our sincere appreciation to our technical and administrative staff, whose professionalism and support are essential to maintaining an outstanding research environment.

The national research quality evaluation is conducted every four years and assesses the scientific performance of universities, institutes of the Polish Academy of Sciences, and international research institutes across individual academic disciplines. In the 2022–2025 evaluation cycle, 280 institutions were assessed across 1,241 disciplinary evaluations.

Receiving the A+ and A categories is both a recognition of scientific excellence and an important foundation for the Institute's future. These categories secure stable institutional funding and confirm the Institute's full academic rights, including the authority to award doctoral (PhD) and habilitated doctoral degrees and to operate its doctoral school.

It is also worth emphasizing the prestige of this distinction. In the discipline of Physical Sciences, the highest scientific category, A+, was awarded to only five research institutions in Poland. Alongside the Institute of High Pressure Physics PAS, the other recipients are the University of Warsaw, the AGH University of Krakow, the Institute of Nuclear Physics PAS, and the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. This places IHPP PAS among the country's leading research institutions in the physical sciences and underscores the international competitiveness and excellence of its research.
