Laboratory NL-6

Research topics

The Laboratory of Superconductors and Hydrogen Technologies (NL-6) is part of the Institute of High Pressure Physics Polish Academy of Sciences. The laboratory is focused on research on synthesis, sintering and crystallization of superconducting materials from iron-based (FBS) and MgB₂ family. Our main focus is on polycrystalline samples.

We are enhancing our reasearch by use of high pressure preccesses such as uniaxial pressing , hot pressing - HP, izostatic pressing, hot isostatic pressing - HIP up to 1.5 GPa in order to obtain improved properties of superconducting material, such as density, purity and critical parameters.

We are producing supercodnucting wires usign powder in tube PIT technique and work on increasing their paramteres to application levels.

We are also aiming in obtaining single crystal and thin film samples to improve understanding of basic properties of these fascinating materials.

We are also conducting research on hydrogen storage in gas pressure tanks, where hydrogen is an energy carrier. Our main focus are type IV tanks with ether carbon or glass fibers, as well as infrastructure neccessary to build whole hydrogen systems.

We participated in building of a complete Hydrogen Energy Station WSE in Unipress Celestynów Innovation Park that can store energy from photovoltaic farm as compressed hydrogen produced by electrolyzers.

We are working on producing innovative all-metal (type I) gas tanks as well as new hydrogen compressors for high volume industrial applications.
